We are delighted to see the new play area finally being installed at Cale Park in Wincanton.
4George has worked with Wincanton Town Council over the last year to secure approximately £175,000 of funding to upgrade the much loved public area in the Somerset Town.
Following spates of vandalism to the pavilion and the children’s playground over the last few years, the town were left with a very sad looking public green space with almost nothing left for children to play on.
However, in June 2016 work started to regenerate Cale Park after the final piece of funding was secured.
A new footbridge was installed over the river that runs through the park making access to the new play area far easier. Heavy plant machinery, tonnes of sand and the all important play equipment has moved in and the park has been closed while the works take place to install all the new equipment and complete the landscaping.
There isn’t a firm date for the completion of the work but it is hoped that Cale Park will be open for the planned South Somerset District Council Play Day in late August.
